Thorlabs PM5020 Dual-Channel Benchtop Optical Power and Energy Meter - Firmware Change Log --------------------------------------------------------------------------- This firmware is a device internal program for the PM5020 Dual-Channel Benchtop Optical Power and Energy Meter. Installation Instruction ------------------------ In order to update the PM5020 firmware, the firmware image (file extension *.dfu) and the Thorlabs Optical Power Monitor (OPM) are required. You will find it installed to your computer after downloading and installing the Thorlabs Power Meter Software package from our web site. There (tab "Firmware") the up-to-date firmware image can be found as well. Please download it and remember the location on your computer where you saved it to. 1. Start the Thorlabs Optical Power Monitor (OPM) and navigate: Help -> Tools -> Firmware Update Tool 2. In the Welcome screen click Browse and select the previously downloaded .dfu file. 3. Select "Update firmware over USB" or "Update firmware over Ethernet" Firmware update via USB ------------------------ Ensure PM5020 is connected via USB Firmware update via Ethernet ----------------------------- Ensure PM5020 is connected via Ethernet On PM5020 click on Menu -> Interface and check for DFU Port (Default is 27007) and IP address. If NetBIOS is active on your LAN you can also use the hostname of the device instead of the IP address. Note: If DFU port is set to 0 the update via Ethernet is deactivated. In the OPM type in IP address or hostname and DFU Port. 4. Click Next. The tool scans for the PM5020. 5. The OPM lists the Powermeter. Click "Start" to begin DFU upload. 6. The update tool software switches the PM5020 to DFU upload mode and begins to transfer the firmware image. The progress can be observed at the Update Tool. Do NOT interrupt the process, this may cause your PM5020 to become inoperable! 7. When the transfer has completed click Finish. The Update Tool application closes, and the PM5020 reboots with the new firmware.
